Hospitals have their own unique challenges when it comes to the use of social media. That's why you don't want to miss our June 6 event when two social media experts, Ed Bennett of University of Maryland Medical Center, and Chris Boyer of Inova Health, present "A Common Sense Approach to Hospital Social Media."
During this session, Ed and Chris will share their insight as to what's working for hospitals and discuss how to manage the process and handle roadblocks. Several case studies will also be presented during the session.
About our Speakers:
Ed Bennett Director of Web & Communications Technology University of Maryland Medical Center
Ed has more than 15 years of experience working on the Internet and has worn many hats - programmer, designer, consultant, information architect, start-up participant and more.
Since 1999, he has led the UMMC Web program, building out large content-rich websites designed to educate and attract new patients. And, he pioneered search engine optimization techniques that are now standard for hospital websites. His current focus is the growing use of social media and its impact on health care. Ed is noted for his website, Found in Cache, where he maintains the Hospital Social Network List, which tracks the social media activities of more than 1,100 US hospitals.
Chris Boyer Director of Digital Marketing & Communications Inova Health System
Chris is an active participant in the rapidly evolving field of health care new-media marketing. In addition to being a speaker and educator, he puts talk into action by creating and testing new digital strategies.
At Inova, a six-hospital nonprofit health system serving the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC metro area, Chris has expanded the organization's low-cost, high-return branding and growth efforts using targeted online strategies to attract and retain patients. An active advisory board member of the Mayo Clinic's Center for Social Media, Chris has presented at numerous healthcare conferences and his work has been featured in a number of well known health care publications.
